I became a huge fan of Samantha Ferguson with His Hands Photographs when I saw her pictures in a ballet calendar for the Alabama Youth Ballet Company. I was in awe of the pictures as they looked… magical! Literally, each picture possessed a gentle touch, a twinkle, a little bit of something extra that Samantha seemed to capture with every dancer. It was amazing. These young dancers were turned into nothing less than gorgeous works of art, focusing not only on visual art, but placing emphasis on the inspiring, transforming art of dance. Her pictures looked as though an art gallery had been created in the form of a calendar.
As we celebrate Valentine’s Day, we are celebrating love. It need not be limited to romance either. The family, however defined, is a beautiful example of love and terrific reason to celebrate the togetherness and connectiveness of love. I cannot think of a more perfect Valentine’s day than spending it with the one or ones you love, especially your family.
Each year, I watch my little ones grow up and it seems that just yesterday, they were tiny babies. I wish I had more pictures, especially pictures that capture the magic, twinkle, or little bit of something extra that Samantha captured with the ballet dancers.
